The White Stripes Drop Legal Battle with Trump Over Song

The White Stripes chose to withdraw their copyright lawsuit against President-elect Donald Trump over his campaign’s unauthorised use of their hit song, “Seven Nation Army.”

The lawsuit was filed in September after the 78-year-old politician’s communications aide, Margo McAtee Martin, used the track to accompany a campaign video showing Trump boarding a plane.

Unlike many musicians who objected to the media personality’s use of their music, the American rock duo sought a jury trial, hoping to legally block his team from using their work.

The band’s legal team recently filed a motion to dismiss the case “without prejudice,” meaning they retain the right to refile in the future. This latest move follows Jack White’s Instagram posts denouncing Trump shortly after his recent re-election victory.

In one post, White condemned Trump, stating: “Americans chose a known, obvious fascist and now America will get whatever this wannabe dictator wants to enact from here on in…”

While the legal action may be paused for now, White’s vocal opposition to Trump’s agenda remains steadfast. The outcome leaves open the possibility of future legal measures if Trump’s team revisits The White Stripes’ music.
